The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, has announced that Assam-grown Pineapples, Kaji Lemons, Plums, Jackfruits, and Starfruits are now being exported directly to Singapore markets from Guwahati through a new air cargo link. This new initiative aims to enhance agricultural exports.
The Singaporean representative in India expressed their delight regarding this progress, as it establishes a direct channel for agro-exports from the Northeast to Singapore. They expressed gratitude to CM Himanta Biswa Sarma for leading this innovative venture.
Sarma emphasized that this is the first time Assam farmers have shipped their produce directly from Guwahati to Singapore, which opens up new possibilities to double the North East’s agricultural exports, with a flight duration of only 4.5 hours.
