Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Friday that the Assam government has sent two senior officers to Sikkim to facilitate the safe evacuation of the 160 students from Assam who are currently stranded there due to the flash flooding.
He also mentioned the case of an army jawan from Baksa district who is missing in the area. 22 bodies have been recovered and 103 people, including 15 army personnel, remain missing after a cloudburst over Lhonak Lake in North Sikkim on Wednesday caused a devastating flash flood.
