Late on Thursday night, a tragic car crash on National Highway-37 in Assam’s Nagaon district resulted in the death of three individuals and left another in a critical condition. According to police reports, the incident occurred when a Mahindra Verito, registered as AS-12J-6909, veered off the road and plunged into a nearby ditch along the four-lane highway. A high-ranking police official provided details of the mishap.

The superintendent of police for Nagaon, Nabaneet Mahanta, reported that the vehicle involved in the incident had four occupants, one of whom was the driver. He stated that two individuals were pronounced dead at the scene, while the remaining two were taken to Tezpur Medical College in a severe state. Unfortunately, one of the hospitalized individuals passed away on Friday morning, according to SP Mahanta.
The police have confirmed the identities of the three individuals who lost their lives as Arjun Toti, Amrit Biswas, and Rahul Biswas. They were between the ages of 25 and 30 and hailed from the Kaliabor region in Nagaon district. The authorities have notified the relatives of the victims.
According to statements from the victims’ families, the collision was caused by heavy fog. Nonetheless, law enforcement officials are still examining the incident to determine its actual cause.
The Superintendent of Police (SP) mentioned that the victims’ bodies have been dispatched for autopsy, and the results of this examination will help ascertain whether alcohol was a factor in the driver’s behavior. The investigation is ongoing, as further stated by the SP.
