Guwahati : The AASU activists of Nalbari district today hanged the effigy of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal at 22 different places of the district in protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act and the brutal act of Assam police on innocent protesters at Solmara in Nalbari district yesterday.
In Nalbari town, the Nalbari Anchalik unit of AASU hanged the effigy of Chief Minister Sonowal at the Sri Sri Harimandir Chawk.About a hundred AASU activists also raised various slogans against the CAA and the BJP Government.
They also demanded the Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal who is holding the charge of Home Department to take action against the guilty police personnel who resorted to lathi charge on the innocent protesters when they waved black flags during the journey of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal yesterday.
In other places like Ghograpar,Barbhag,Bahjani,Tihu,Chamata,Koithalkuchi the effigy of the Chief Minister were hanged by the respective Anchalik units of AASU.The Nalbari district unit of AASU is going to organise a 10 hours mass hunger strike on January 6 in protest against the brutal assualt on AASU activists .It was disclosed in a press conference held at the Swahid Bhawan this evening.The AASU unit also submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner demanding appropriate steps against police officials Jupi Bardoloi and Dhrubajyoti Nath.
