
The influential editor-in-chief of the first daily Karbi newspaper, The Arleng Daily , T.P. Hanse, has passed away, leaving a void in the media world of Karbi Anglong district. He took his last breath at 2:15 AM on Monday. His untimely demise has cast a shadow of deep sorrow over both the district and the media community. It is known that the late T.P. Hanse had been suffering from a severe illness for a long time. Despite continuous medical treatment, he could not overcome his illness. However, his selfless service to the people of the district through The Arleng Daily newspaper will remain unforgettable.

It is noteworthy that the first Karbi daily newspaper, ‘Arleng Daily,’ was published on June 9, 2004, under his golden touch. He was born in Jiribam, Manipur. He is the eldest son of Bajong Hanse and Mary Teronpi. He has two brothers, Mukur Hanse and Eliza, and two sisters, Kache and Rebecca. Hanse completed his matriculation from Ebenezer Academy in New Lamka, Manipur, in 1996, and earned his bachelor’s degree from Churachandpur Government College under Manipur University in 1998.
On February 28, 2003, a pilot from Manipur married a lady named Jenimoi Tonsing Teronpi. They had a happy family with two sons, Harsing Timothy Hanse and Atur Chang Hanse, and a daughter, Faith Cherji Hansepi. He was a pioneer in publishing a daily newspaper in Karbi Anglong. Today, on August 26, around 2:15 AM, he passed away at Diphu Medical College Hospital. He was suffering from multiple ailments, including kidney stones, and both of his kidneys had failed.
His untimely death has been described as an irreparable loss to the world of journalism by Diganta Teron, President of Karbi Anglong District Press Club, Dewjyoti Bora, Secretary of Karbi Anglong District Press Club, and Borsing Rongphar, President of Diphu Press Club. Expressing their condolences to the bereaved and grieving family, they also prayed for the eternal peace of T.P. Hanser’s departed soul.
