In a significant move to combat the rising tide of violence against women and children, eight prominent women’s organizations in Karbi Anglong have come together to voice their grave concerns. These groups, including the Karbi Anglong Women’s Justice Forum, KNCA, IPWA, and the Karbi Anglong District Women’s Association, are leading the charge against the appalling increase in crimes such as rape, murder, and exploitation of child labor in the region.

On Friday at noon, these organizations submitted a memorandum to the Governor of Assam through the District Commissioner, highlighting the urgent need for intervention and preventive measures.
The alarming rise in violence-related incidents in Karbi Anglong has left the community in distress. The women’s groups have expressed their deep-seated worry over the frequency at which these heinous crimes are occurring. The memorandum urges the state government to implement effective strategies to curb these acts of violence and to protect the vulnerable sections of society.
The call to action by these women leaders is not only a demand for justice but also an appeal for the establishment of a safer environment for women and children. The memorandum underscores the necessity for swift policy implementation and rigorous law enforcement to address and dismantle the structures that perpetuate violence and exploitation.
