PM constantly striving to ensure development of border areas: Shah 

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is constantly striving to ensure development in the border areas.
   Shah reviewed the situation along the Assam-Bangladesh border from the Mankachar sector of the state and discussed operational strategies to be deployed at the sector with senior BSF officials at a closed-door meeting here. 
      The Union home minister said that the problems in the border areas was lack of development leading to trafficking but the ”Prime Minister is constantly striving to bring development to these areas”.
       He said in a tweet that he discussed ways to strengthen the security along the border and reviewed the ‘Comprehensive Integrated Management System’.
      The security forces posted along the border will be provided with the latest technology to keep the border areas safe and secure, he said.
    Shah also praised the BSF personnel manning the border for their ”alertness and serving to protect the motherland”.
      An official source said that in the review meeting issues related to trans-border smuggling and seizure of cattle and other materials were presented before him.   
       Shah, who arrived at the Kamakhya Hilltop via a chopper earlier in the day, offered prayers at the Kamakhya Temple at  Thakuranbari there before leaving for the Mankachar border .
     He was welcomed by officials of the BSF and the state government at the border outpost of the 45 Battalion.
      Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who accompanied Shah, tweeted ”senior officials of BSF briefed the minister about operational areas of the outpost and its relevance to border security”.
     The visit of the Union Minister is a ”manifestation of the sheer emphasis given by the central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the country’s border security”, he tweeted. 
     The home minister, accompanied by BSF officials, earlier reviewed the border situation from an observation tower set up for the occasion. He was also seen interacting with local villagers, who had gathered in the area. 
       The villagers living along the border had lined up along the way and greeted Shah with cries of ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ and ‘Jai Shri Ram’.
       Shah, wearing the BSF cap, greeted them and also inquired about the problems faced by the people in the border villages.
     A flag march was conducted by the border personnel of both India and Bangladesh in the presence of the Union minister.
    
     The home minister, who is in Assam on a two-day visit, is scheduled to attend several programmes on Monday and Tuesday.
